Summer time is here which means time to watch what we’re eating.  I feel like this kick comes around our family quite often, but this time my husband is spurring it on.  This means a lot of veggies, chicken and fish….but how many ways can one prepare these foods in a healthy way?

I was first introduced to SCOUT bags at a BlogHer conference last year.  I had never heard of them before and felt like when I came home I was shouting their name from the rooftops.  I was so impressed with this bag!  The tote style allowed me to put so much inside and haul it around without the worry of the handles breaking off.  I know many of us receive bags at conferences and come home only to shove them in a closet or put them in the yard sale pile. Not this bag!  I load mine up and take it the beach.  The sand wipes off easily and I can hose it down when I get home.  It’s spacious enough to hold all of the beach toys!  Now, I just need one more for my towels and food supply!

Mighty Fine is not a movie for the faint of heart. It digs into the life that many hide from or just don’t want to talk about. Anger. This film depicts a father, Joe, who has strong anger issues and feels that he is the King of his home. Sadly, Joe feels that his home is only happy if money is coming in. He is a great father when things are going well, but when he hits rock bottom – he hits hard.

Director Debbie Goodstein writes the fictional film on characteristics she and her friends experienced growing up. Here is an excerpt she shared:

“When Joe is feeling rich there’s nothing he won’t do for his family, but when he’s feeling poor and trapped by the prospect of failure, he becomes a caged animal‹any slight against him is responded to reflexively and aggressively.”

The film takes place in the seventies. Of course I enjoyed the ladies clothing and wish some of the styles would come back and stick. I also enjoyed watching Andie MacDowell portray the role of the mother, Stella. Andie puts her heart and soul into every role I have seen her play and this is no exception. You can see the undying love she has for her husband, as well as the pain she feels. She has the weight of keeping her family together and trying to fit in all on her shoulders.

Although this is a heavy movie, I definitely encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and watch it.

Mighty Fine will be opening at select theaters opening May 25, 2012.
