From Address Plaques to Bird Feeders

I love bird feeders, bird baths and birdhouses and I get this love from my grandfather. I remember the excitement of my children when my grandparents came over to our new house with a bird feeder for my kids. My kids now love seeing the birds flying to it and even the occasional squirrel. There are bird feeders now that hold the normal seed food, but some that have the nectar juice. We have had both.
Another item I have been wanting for my house is an address plaque. It wasn’t top on my priority list when we moved in, but now I still want one. If it is still on my list after 5 years I think I should find one to get. My favorite ones are the hanging address plaques. I like the simple oval ones on the black post. They are also nice to have because they make your address a little clearer for visitors or emergency vehicles to see your house number when trying to find your home. They add a nice touch to your house and are pretty much maintenance free and made to withstand the outdoor elements. There other types of plaques besides the hanging address plaques. There are ones that stake into the ground and ones that attach to your home. Plaques and even custom mailboxes offer a little extra to your house and make it look a little more like home from the outside. It is a great way to show a little bit more of your style to the outside of your house.

I love when my children can learn something while playing a game. SimplyFun Games has created to new games that allow just that!

Pickles Veggie Pick is perfect for my 4 1/2 year old. She does need a little assistance, but with time she will have the rules of play down. With vibrant colors and eye-catching graphics, the game grabs her attention. Moving the farmer and dog are just plain fun. The object is to gather your vegetables and bring them home. I have been looking for a fun way to help my 4th grader work on her math skills. Space It is a fun game that incorporates math skills into play. Morphology Games | A Game for Creativity

Morphology is a great game for family night. We tried the 13 and older version, but there is a junior edition available. It is a guessing game that will arise laughter in your household. The object of the game is that you pick up a game card from the deck and then attempt to “create” that word with the objects provided. However, it does get tricky with different challenges such as only being allowed to use one hand or creating with your eyes closed. My girls loved this game. We do think that added modeling clay to the kit would be a great addition.

Elmo has been a favorite in our family for a long time. He also always seem to captivate the attention of my children and as a mom I love the educational aspects he shares in Elmo’s World. Rain Rain Go Away

Our family is supposed to head out in about an hour to watch the highly anticipated Dog Parade. Now, I’m not a big fan of dogs (I really can’t stand dogs at all!), but my girls absolutely love this parade. It has become an annual tradition to load up our chairs, sit in our “parade seats” (in front of our friends office building) and hang out with our best friends. The Mardi Gras themed parade is sure to provide entertainment. I love hearing the local high school band and my girls take delights checking out dogs bigger than me or tiny ones pulling carts. Last year we saw a pink poodle…yep…anything can happen at a Mardi Gras Dog Parade.

To celebrate this long extended, possibly rainy weekend, I am excited to share with you some indoor games and movies to keep your family entertained!

Paper or plastic? How about Bamboo?! BambooWare is one of those great companies that I met at the ASI Trade Show. Since bamboo grows at an amazing rate it is a great product to use in creating products that could otherwise just be thrown away.

I absolutely love my salad tongs and colander. The products are so sturdy and I don’t have to worry about what we are eating off of. ASI Show 2012

I recently attending an ASI Trade Show in Orlando and went in with no expectations. I was very unfamiliar the Advertising Specialty Institute , but quickly found that it was a tight knit community. ASI is a network for companies that sell promotional items. I found some very unique items such as spatulas with college logos and then practical items such as golf balls.

You would be amazed at all the items that a company could/would put their logo on. We know the familiar ones such as pens or coozies, but also mats, picture frames, chap stick and hand sanitizer, even an iPad. It is about branding and excellent service. The ASI trade show is open for folks that sell promotional items such as printing companies and trophy factories. For example: I put on a golf event. I reach out to Trophy Factory Plus, my local trophy company to purchase golf shirts, golf balls and our prizes. They work directly with an ASI vendor to ensure that I get the best price for the products that I need.

I found the ASI Trade Show to be a well-organized event. It was held at the Orange County Convention Center which was definitely an adequate sized venue. The registration lines were well organized and I observed well-placed security. They also secure phenomonial key-note speakers to motivate and help grow your business. Some include: Michael J. Fox, Tony Robbins and Bill O’Reilly.
