Christmas is quickly approaching and will be here before we know it. I like to have my kids understand giving to others during the season, but I also like to give them gifts. The costs of buying presents for 3 kids and the rest of my family can add up quickly. I have a big extended family and as all the kids in the family get older the holiday gifts get smaller but yet more expensive. I like to start shopping early when I see a great deal to help with the costs. Kmart understands that families are always looking for ways to save or spread payments out a bit. Kmart now offers free layaway on new purchases made between 9/9/12 -11/17/12. What great news! You get to avoid paying interest by putting the purchases on your credit card.

I have never done layaway, but the thought of not going to debt this holiday season sure makes me consider it. Putting the greatest toys on layaway guarantees I can get my kids the hottest items of the season. I remember one year I wish I had done layaway with the Zhu Zhu pets and all the accessories that come with them and as December neared I couldn’t’ find one anywhere. If I had put all the items on layaway I wouldn’t have to been searching everywhere for these furry animals. Many stores offer layaway, but Kmart is adding some pretty nice benefits. I think the Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway will convince all shoppers to consider a layaway. All you have to do is put your favorite items on layaway and every week you earn a chance to have your remaining balance paid off. There is one winner, every week at every Kmart location.

My husband has been asking for a new big screen television. While this wouldn’t be my first choice, but I see that Kmart has some great deals on televisions. Putting this on layaway for my husband would make a great Christmas surprise for him! It would be even better if I won the Kmart's Big Layaway Giveaway. If I was a lucky winner I would buy some more toys for Operation Christmas Child and maybe even go take my kids towards some snow for a white December!
