I am always looking for ways to lower our monthly bills wherever possible. Some bills are fixed costs and can’t be lowered, but water bills and utility bills can be lowered depending on certain factors. Summer months seems to be a time when those utility bills are on the rise. I know I don’t like paying more than I have to. I also tell my kids turn off lights when leaving a room or turn off water when brushing their teeth, but I am always interested in ways to lower even more and save some money. I know you can use different light bulbs and different fixtures or appliances to save a little here and there. I am considering a home energy audit to make sure my house is energy efficient and see if there are areas in my home that I could be losing energy. Home Energy Team could come and help my home feel more comfortable while saving me money and helping me make sure I am taking advantage of all cost effective measures. Knowing that the energy teams are trained professionals makes me listen to their suggestions since this is not an area I am too familiar.
After getting an assessment I will know if I am losing energy through my windows, doors, ducts and more. Home insulation contractors can even check the insulation of my home and inform me if I have the proper insulation. The contractors can let me know if it is acting efficiently or if anything needs updating. The older a home is the more likely it is losing energy and could use some updating. Other than helping save some extra money by having an energy efficient home an audit can help point out if any repairs need to be made before major issues arise. I know I don’t want to spend more money on utilities or repairs than I need too. Having your home inspected on a regular basis and keeping update on new energy options will help me to always maximize my savings.
