Then Came You and The Next Best Thing | Jennifer Weiner

I enjoy sitting on my couch with a good book after my children are all asleep even though I don’t do it as often as I would like.  Sometimes it only happens if I get a weekend getaway with no kids.  I usually take book suggestions from friends and sometimes when I start I can’t put them down until I am finished.  I enjoy reading women fiction and came across Jennifer Weiner and her books. I like reading books that I feel like I can relate to the characters and feel like I know them when finished with the book.

Then Came You is a story of 4 women who are very different, but have some in common and work together.  The characters are unique and so different.  It was refreshing and kept readers intrigued to see what happens next.  There were several important issues woven into the book and the characters emotions and relationships were deep.  It develops and displays all the different views of surrogacy and how each character related to motherhood.  This is a quick, easy read that isn’t too emotionally taxing which I like in finding a book.  Another great book by Jennifer Weiner is The Next Best Thing.  It is about a young girl who wants to make it Hollywood and when she does all the heartache that can come along with the show business.  A very heartfelt story about a girl who was bullied and lost her parents at a young age and it was neat to see the inside of a woman working in the TV industry.

Grab both these books for a light, humorous read.  They won’t be on your nightstand for long and you will feel a connection with all the characters and appreciate Jennifer Weiner’s writing style.  It didn’t take long to figure out why she is a bestselling author.
