My Adventure at Florida EcoSafaris

We have a beautiful treasure in our own backyard here in Florida.  Florida EcoSafaris at Forever Florida is located in St. Could, Florida.  They offer a variety of family-friendly activities that are available year round.  I was excited to venture onto Florida’s first, and only, zipline safari.  Heights reached 68 feet with speeds up to 30 mph.  The course runs about 2 and half hours and includes 7 ziplines, 10 tree-top platforms and 2 bridges.  I zoomed over treetops and even through a few pines.  The view was spectacular and the staff was encouraging and high quality!

Zipline Safari

Our trek began with a Isaac driving our “Safari Coach”.  He pointed out Florida’s Cracker Horses and Spanish Colonial Cattle that were originally brought over by Ponce de Leon and the Spanish settlers.  Being spring time we were able to see many babies…including baby alligators.  We learned about the hog problems and lovely “Hogzilla”.

Matt Duda shared the history of the conservation grounds.  The story began with a young man’s passion for wildlife preservation.  When Allen Broussard passed away at an early age his parents made his dream our backyard masterpiece.  4700 acres allowing nature to shine.

Florida Eco-Safaris just unveiled four new rides.  Peregrine Plunge, Panther Pounce, Swooping Crane and The Rattlesnake Roller coaster. My new friend, Mary (from DeBary) and I challenged each other on the Peregrine Plunge. With a running start we jumped from 71 feet high and raced down a 1300 feet zipline. It’s seems weird to say, but it was almost relaxing. Watching the scenery pass by and just taking in all of God’s creation was breathtaking.

Panther Pounce

The Panther Pounce is one that my sister tried. 18 feet high. A wooden platform. A cable. JUMP!! The Swooping Crane allows you to “gracefully” fly through the air from the height of 55′. You’ll definitely feel the wind on your face with this one.

Rattlesnake Roller Coaster

Unfortunately (?) I didn’t have time to try The Rattlesnake Roller coaster. I was in line for it though! This ride is the first of its kind in the United States. You are the roller coaster. You will zip through trees on 1000 feet of zipline. Curves, dips and jumping will provide you much excitement.

Cypress Canopy Cycling

There is also the Cypress Canopy Cycle. This one seems like a great workout. 3/4 of a mile suspended in the trees 25 feet in the air. I definitely want to give this one a try. You can enjoy all of these adventures for $135.00.
