I was at my daughters dance studio last week and they are doing some renovations. While waiting for the girls I noticed they added small lockers for the girls to put their waters and dance items in. The older girls are the ones who really use because they spend a lot of time at the studio and the locker is a great place for them to keep track of their stuff. The girls I saw using seemed to like using them. My four year old son asked me what they were and I explained. I told him mommy used to use those in school. It made me remember in school when I finally got to use lockers how I thought it was so cool to have my own on campus. We had the basic steel lockers for our books and athletic lockers to use when we were in gym class. They also had the aluminum bleachers and used lockers football around the gym and even outside in various places. I have recently been on my old high school campus and they still have use of all these lockers, but I am sure they are updated from the long time ago when I was there.
The more I thought about lockers I remember seeing office lockers at my husband’s work in the warehouse and in the gym area. They have some vented lockers and some lockers metal. I thought what a great idea for employees to safely keep their wallet, phone, keys, and lunch box when they don’t have a desk to store the items.
This simple addition at the dance studio opened up a discussion about lockers and my kids can’t wait to have one with their very own lock! Maybe I could even get for them to keep their school items in at home.
